Dr. Amelia Gayle is a professional pianist and interdisciplinary scholar currently serving as pianist and organist at Monona United Methodist Church. She began piano lessons at age 3 and studied with more than 5 teachers before discovering her artistic foundation through the Russian piano methodology of Ms. Yana Giles in Fort Worth, Texas.
In college, she combined studies in French and music while serving as accompanist for her college choir, a community choir, and two neighboring churches, in addition to maintaining a private piano studio.
Dr. Gayle pursued doctoral research at the intersection of French and music at the University at Buffalo, actively taking piano lessons under Eric Huebner of the New York Philharmonic as part of her research.
Inspired by the refined sense of touch Russian teacher cultivated in her playing at a young age, she ultimately wrote her PhD dissertation on piano technique.
In addition to teaching piano students ranging in age from 4 to 85, Dr. Gayle has taught French for over eight years. She is a patient and thoughtful teacher who finds joy in helping students build their own meaningful connections to music at their own pace and in their own way.
